Through an exploration into materials and forms that challenge and excite our expectations of design, French designer Emmanuel Babled has created 'Digit', a series of lights which merge the precision of technology with the art of hand blown glass.
Inspired by images of subatomic particles, Babled’s ‘Digit’ collection is formed by merging hand blown glass spheres created using the traditional techniques of Murano glassmakers.
The reflective surfaces of the lamps, created through digitally rendered colours, renovate the age old venetian tradition while demonstrating the possibility of digital perfection in the hand blown medium.
The ‘Digit’ collection will be on display at the Galleria Scagliola until the 29th of November 2008.
