Revolving Hotel Room by Carsten Höller
24th October '08 - 7th January '09
Guggenheim Museum
1071 5th Avenue, NY
Fascinated by both the visual and inner spectacles, Carsten Höller has created “The Revolving Hotel Room” as part of the Guggenheim’s upcoming exhibition “theanyspacewhatever”.
Truly blurring the boundaries between art and design, Höller’s latest creation is a fully serviced hotel room offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the night in one of the world’s most distinguished museums.
Consisting of three harmoniously revolving discs carrying a dressing area, desk and double bed, ‘The Revolving Hotel Room’, will be on view to the public during the museum’s regular opening hours. At night, the art installation will become an operative hotel room equipped with many luxury amenities. In addition, overnight guests will be given private access to the exhibition.
From art installation to design hotel, Höller is certainly giving the design/art debate a solid run for its money.
