This month, however, the pop-up trend has taken a refreshing turn. The OpenHouse gallery has converted three and a half rooms into a indoor park with everything from bird songs, rocks, and a see-saw.
Los Angeles architecture firm murmur have designed a house centred around a bladder that collects and stores rainwater. The house is commissioned to be built in Chicago.
The Succulent House addresses the pressing global issue of freshwater quality and supply as but one possible force to drive design ingenuity and improve environmental performance. This approach allows us to speculate on the organizational, spatial and atmospheric potential of water collection on the American house.

This evening at 6:30pm Anna Heringer will be lecturing at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London. Anna is a pioneer in sustainable thinking; she has moved far beyond the marketing hype of 'green design' and has formulated her own set of values and ideas concerning how design can move us into a sustainable future. She has worked all over the world testing her design theories; creating schools and homes that encourage self-sufficiency and sustainable living practices.
A recent graduate of Design Products at the Royal College of Art, Harry Thaler received the Conran Award 2010 for his 'Pressed Chair' this past summer.
The chair is created by stamping into 2.5 mm aluminium; making an object that is light, stackable, portable, and 100% recyclable.
In Utrecht you can have a detached villa built by Studio Van Lieshout (Atelier Van Lieshout). It is the very first house that the Rotterdam studio of Joep van Lieshout has designed. The fanciful cocoon-like house has yet to be realized. The sale of Villa Sculptura started, Wednesday 5 January 2011. The sales price starts at 1 million Euros, depending on the living area and the finishing.

After a decade under Pierre Keller’s direction, the L'ÉCAL has arguably become one of the best schools of design in the world.

'Come Up To My Room' is an annual alternative design event, in which selected designers are invited to take over spaces in the Gladstone Hotel, creating bespoke installations and responses within the historic building.

At the end of this month, design interiors fair Maison et Objet comes to Paris. To accompany the show, a trend publication and video has been released, highlighting key pieces to be shown and bringing together the trends to be presented which will influence design in the coming year.
Asif Khan is a multi disciplinary designer based in London. His work spans products, furniture, interiors and architecture. After training at The Bartlett and the Architectural Association School, he set up his studio in 2008 and has since enjoyed many high profile commissions.
