This weekend is the last chance to see Okay London; an exhibition resulting from the collaboration between dutch furniture manufacturer Arco and up and coming London design collective Okay Studio.
This project is the follow up to the very successful Arco 12 project, 2005, which was organised to celebrate the 100th birthday of the firm. For this, 12 young dutch designers were invited to create new designs to challenge and respond to Arco’s current production possibilities. Many of the designs created through this subsequently became part of the Arco furniture collection, including the now well known and multi award winning 'Slim Table' by Bertjan Pot.
For this iteration, Arco's new creative director Jorre van Ast called upon his old studio colleagues to take up the challenge:
“The designers are a group of friends who share a studio and often exhibit together. I knew them all as fellow students. So for me it was simply a logical next step to set up a workshop with them. Obviously I’m in a unique and unusual position, because I am both Arco and a member of the group.”
Ten designers from London based Okay Studio were then invited to Winterswijk in the Netherlands, where together they developed designs and ideas in Arco's furniture factory, resulting in the exciting prototypes exhibited here along with a selection of Okay Studio's previous pieces.
