V&A Museum South Kensington tube entrance
The V&A Museum commissioned Troika to create a permanent sign for its South Kensington tube station entrance, and their response was a kinetic sign called Palindrome.
The sign is a tribute to the the museum’s rich collection spanning 3,000 years of culture. Drawing their inspiration from the diverse mixture of pieces in the collection, Troika created a sign that would mirror their intricate, eclectic and memorable image.
A delicate ensemble of 85 stand-alone hand-crafted elements, Troika’s Palindrome has been built and designed with heritage materials such as fasteners and gears. The logo deconstructs and reconnects forming a palindrome with each half turn. As it changes the wheels tick like an old grandfather clock alluding to the timelessness of the museum.
