Design Forum Finland
Erottajankatu 7, Helsinki
For their summer exhibition the Design Forum Finland presents Laksus 09, an exhibition exploring the phenomena of luxury.
Luxury has become enmeshed in our everyday lives. Traditionally referring to opulence, abundance and rare expensive products, today’s concept of Luxury is more and more associated with personal choices and traditional, time-consuming skills of the hand, as well as natural, ecological materials and new technologies.
Today's luxury products are emphasizing above all good design and their focus is shifting from the objects as such to their different, and even surprising, contexts. Information on the designer and maker, and the working process, are making products unique and desirable.
Featuring a range of work by Finnish designers and design companies, including Aki Choklat, Jutta Johansson, Artek and Nokia, the exhibition offers perspectives on luxury from traditional luxus to eco-luxury, customized products to experiences generated by outstanding design.
