Madlener House, 4 West Burton Pl, Chicago, IL
Sri Lankan born, structural engineer, Cecil Balmond is best known for his daring project collaborations with some of the world's most celebrated architects.
His unorthodox and visionary approach, merging architecture and engineering, has created some of the most challenging buildings in the canon of contemporary architecture.
This first major U.S exhibition of his work investigates concepts in the select theories behind building-geometry, numbers, and patterns, through a large-scale, site-specific installation.
Working in perfect contrast to the features of the Prairie-style architecture of Madlener House, Solid Void marks the first site-specific installation in the 50-year history of the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts' exhibition program.
Please Note, if you were hoping to visit the show during the holiday season, you might want to plan for after January 1st, as the gallery itself will be closed from 24 December to 1 January and will re-open on 2 January.
