Barber & Osgerby Premier a Gaggle of New Works

Milan Furniture Fair DeTnk Features 2014

Milan

Britain's design dream team, Barber & Osgerby, were busy this year in Milan - having premiered new works for five manufacturers including: a new collection of five pieces for Vitra including the Mariposa sofa, Planophore shelves, Wood Table and Wood bench as well as Zeb bar stool. They have also launched the Button and Tobi Ishi tables for B&B Italia, upholstery for Knoll, Port vase for Venini and Mews tile collection for Mutina.

MARIPOSA SOFA FOR VITRA

The Mariposa Sofa radiates an inviting aura of spacious comfort – and yet maintains a subtly understated presence, thanks to its balanced proportions.

BUTTON TABLE FOR B&B ITALIA

Button tables are a family of side tables that can be used on their own or as a group. The constant design feature is the cylindrical shaped leg and lipped top reminiscent of a button available in various heights and finishes.

LOW TOBI ISHI FOR B&B ITALIA

The off-set monolithic legs and cantilevered top, features that make the Tobi Ishi recognisable are still the key components of this larger rectangular version. With soft corners and the rectangular table-top, this table can sit 8 people comfortably.

PORT VASE FOR VENINI

The shape is reminiscent of boating apparatus; buoys and fenders regularly seen around the waterways of Venice. The main body of the vase utilises Venini’s signature Coral red. The thick opaque glass is blown into a mould then cut to a precise angle at the base lifting the soft domed shape elegantly from the ground.

MEWS TILE COLLECTION FOR MUTINA

This new collection for Mutina, Mews, is inspired by the landscape, the history and the personality of the British capital, and by the huge variety of textures characterising its infrastructures, such as bricks, wooden floors and irregular geometrical patterns.

SOFA COLLECTION FOR KNOLL

Each piece sits on distinctive cast aluminum feet that slide neatly between its upholstered elements. The sofas, armchair and ottomans are available in a new range of upholstery fabrics and leathers, while the leg of the furniture can be specified in chrome and various lacquered colours, serving as a contrasting highlight.
