The Rove Gallery, London
Now on show at the Rove Gallery in London is an exhibition of art and design entitled ‘Fruit and Flowers’ that focuses on contemporary society as much as it does on contemporary aesthetics.
As part of Icon magazine’s first one-day symposium, editor Justin McGuirck sat down with furniture designer Ronan Bouroullec to discuss his work, career, and views on the position of a designer.
‘Milano design-in-the-city’ is a new urban event dedicated to design enthusiasts. Conceived, coordinated and promoted by DesignPartners (organisers, of ZonaTortona Design), this four day event will exhibit innovative product design in over sixty showrooms and stores across the city.

Opening this week at the Design Museum in London is an exhibition of work by leading British architect David Chipperfield entitled ‘Form Matters’.
So we don’t typically plug these kinds of things on DeTnk but this new application for iPhones and iPod Touches has caught our attention as an extremely useful tool for designers in all walks of life.

The Chesterfield Chest of drawers is an object that explores the emerging trend of using technology within furniture objects, but uses furniture design to lead the implementation of the technology. At first the handles for the drawers are positioned so that the are embedded in the surface of the draw.

Cola Bottle Stalactite Chandelier
Walter Raes’ brilliant vertical light made of a few hundred cleaned-up recycled cola
bottles attached by their tops to a strong central LED source. This chandelier
could be extended by many meters in a hotel stairwell or office
atrium. It is a dazzling & dramatic recycled variation on the splendid glass
